What I learned from taking my own medicine

This may come as a shock to no one but it turns out that I am a slow learner after all, hear me out. For years I have produced podcasts for my clients as a business development tool, podcasts that fill pipelines and aren’t using downloads as a metric for success. I have seen it work time and time again and I know the formula and strategy is strong because the data is there. I have spoken about this topic, written blogs about it, taught classes on it, and even with all of that knowledge, I wasn’t doing it for myself.

Moving to Costa Rica has been great for my physical and mental well being and for a lot of other reasons however, it has taken me out of a lot of speaking opportunities where I normally meet all my new clients. So here I was, scratching my head wondering how to get in front of more people and then it hit me…a podcast. I know, I know. The chef doesn’t cook at home, or something like that. The only problem was, I also wasn’t sure how to get in front of exactly the right people so I spent some time and figured it out. Shoutout to 🥃 “America’s Sweetheart” Eric Ryan for his killer copywriting and help with my messaging.

Over the last 90 days I have interviewed 23 people on Camp Content and the results of that effort have surprised me in a lot of ways so I thought I would share those observations and reflections with you. I did cold outreach on Linkedin to CMOs and CROs, the effort is ongoing so these numbers will increase over time, as will the relationships and connections.

I promised not to write any of these unless I really had something to say, and this is it. I feel strongly about all of this because my business life has really improved in the last few months and its 100% because of the podcast. Imagine that. You cant read the label from inside the jar, yada yada. But all jokes aside, it works, it makes your life better, it makes your days busier, your business more profitable and you never know what massive opportunity is behind the next podcast interview curtain. From those 17 initial interviews we have over 50k in contracts and invoices out, and I am sure that number will grow as those relationships grow and expand. Its not about the revenue though, its bigger than that and I really do think it matters.

If you are thinking to yourself, hell yeah Molly I am all in. I want these kind of results, we can do that for you. The outreach, the strategy, the production, all of it. We have the formula and can show any business how it could work for them but more importantly, if you want to enrich your life while also enriching your business, a podcast just might be the way to go. Its not about downloads, downloads don’t close deals, relationships due. How are you forming new solid relationships built on communication and respect?
