The B2B podcast production checklist

Overhead view of headphones, an open lined notebook with a pen—perfect for jotting down your podcast production checklist—and a microphone on a white surface.
Most podcast advice is vague. This is not. Here is the actual checklist we run, from before you launch to the work each month that most people skip. If you are doing this yourself, steal it. If it looks like a lot, that is the honest scope, and it is why a system matters.

Before you launch

– Decide what the show is for: pipeline, authority, relationships, or a clear mix.
– Define your ideal guest, who doubles as your ideal client.
– Lock the format, length, and cadence you can actually sustain.
– Build the branding: name, cover art, intro, music.
– Set up distribution everywhere your buyers listen.
– Get a real mic into the host’s hands. Better audio means more of everything good.
– Record a pilot before you commit to the public launch.

Every episode

– Send a prep doc ahead of time: guest bio, questions, a host brief.
– Have a live engineer on the session so it sounds right the first time.
– Record a cold open to hook listeners in the first ten seconds.
– Get a clean edit, a transcript, and SEO show notes.
– Turn the episode into a page on your site, built to rank.
– Cut ten clips with captions, built from how the host actually talks.
– Produce the social and the newsletter from the same recording.
– Review everything for accuracy before it ships.

Every month

– Nurture the guests. The relationship is the return, so do not let it go cold.
– Check your rankings and branded search to see the search side working.
– Make sure sales is actually using the clips and pages.
– Look at which guests and topics drove real conversations, and book more like them.
– Keep the cadence through the month-four dip. This is the work that saves the show.
That is the whole job, written out. It is a lot, which is exactly why most B2B shows stall when one busy person tries to carry all of it. See how we carry it for you on the Podcast Production page, or book a call.
